AKA “The Methadone Program” or “180”

Direction 180 is an innovative community-based low-threshold methadone maintenance program. The program is based on a harm reduction, client-centered approach and is the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada. Open seven days a week, Direction 180 is where people registered in the program receive their daily dose of methadone.

ACCESSING DIRECTION 180 – REFERRAL PROCESS

Direction 180 operates on a self-referral system.

1. Call and put your name on the list – basically, there is a wait to receive this service.
2. Call back once a week and check-in; ask if you can come in and meet with someone if you can. 3. Keep in touch with the clinic – people who keep connected are given priority consideration.
4. Try to gather ‘collateral information’ from other doctors and health care providers.
